MAHA Music Festival announces its 2011 date!

This year's edition of MAHA Music Festival will take place at Lewis & Clark Landing on Saturday, August 13, 2011. This indie fest has brought fantastic music to Omaha including acts like Spoon, The Faint, Superchunk, and Dashboard Confessional.

In its third year, I expect the lineup to be better than ever. The MAHA Crew and Marc Liebowitz from One Percent Productions are sure to come up with a great lineup. I'm hoping to see a lineup featuring Mumford & Sons and a headliner such as The National, Bright Eyes, The Decemberists, Phoenix, or The Black Keys.

Hopefully we'll see some artist announcements soon.

Definitely been listening to lots of great music over winter break. As it comes to an end, here are some of my favorites:

Cage The Elephant- Great band, great energy. Had the opportunity to see them this summer, and they didn't disappoint. They are dropping a new album in January. Couple singles off the album are available, one of which is free. With a new album comes a tour, I expect them in the area soon.

The Black Keys- Big year for a awesome band. They were nominated for a few grammies and voted the 2010 XM Alt-Nation Band of The Year. Their old material is excellent as well.

Kanye West- Most people know that im not a huge rap fan, but Kanye's latest album knocked my socks off. He's on my must see list this year, based on his latest material, it'll be one heck of a show.

My Album of the Week is Kings of Leon's "Come Around Sundown."
